Founded in 2005, Chegg is an interconnected learning platform with a mission to help students save time and money and improve their overall return on educational investment. With their headquarters located in California, Chegg wanted to have an office in New York to support the company’s overall growth. As a result, TPG was approached by Vanbarton Group, the building landlord, to design and execute this turnkey project.
The workplace design was completed before COVID, and construction occurred throughout the pandemic. With this project, Chegg wanted to create a workplace with more access to daylight. Situated around the open plan at the window line are many collaborative spaces that help create a strong sense of connection among staff. There is also a private terrace – perfect to enjoy in the summertime. A key component of this space is a focus group observation room to garner how students use Chegg’s platform.
Additionally, TPG’s Branding and Graphics Studio played an important role in this project. They worked with Chegg to create fun, eye-catching vignettes around the office. For example, the team repurposed a classic NYC subway car into booth seating. These colorful backdrops help inspire creativity and encourage teams daily.
